The potential space of game designs is astronomically large. This paper shows how design theories can be translated into a simple, tangible card deck that assist in the exploration new within broader "design space." By translating elements theory physical deck, we enable users to randomly sample order synthesize variations for play platform ("Lumies"). In series iterative and testing rounds with various user groups, has been optimized merge relevant concise limited categories clear descriptions. small, controlled experiment involving groups students, compare effects brainstorming or "Directed Brainstorming" method. We show does not increase ideation speed but preferred by participants. further our target audience, children, were able use develop dozens ideas. conclude cards are promising way help adults children generate ideas making it easier explore space.
